So what makes a CCR tick?

CCR stands for Closed Circuit Rebreather, of which their are mainly two types, manual and electronic. We focus on an electronic CCR made by Ambient Pressure Diving Limited in Cornwall in the UK. It is called an Evolution with Vision Electronics.

In the same way that the Semi Closed Rebreather works by passing your breathed out gas through a CO2 scrubber, this does just the same. The main difference is that, rather than having a continous stream of Nitrox being fed into the unit, it uses the latest micro electronics to analyse the gas and determine how much oxygen is required to be added to make it breatheable/support life or raise it to the Set Point.

This particular unit, like most others, is fitted with two cylinders rather than the one on the SCR. It has a cylinder of 100% oxygen and a cylinder of Air or Diluent as it is called in these circles.

TDI Air Diluent Basic Closed Circuit Rebreather Course

This is the entry certification course for divers wishing to utilise Ambient Pressure Diving's Inspiration / Evolution Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) for air diving.

Apd Closed Circuit Rebreather - Evolution CCR in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for diving a CCR and to develop basic CCR diving skills to a maximum of 30 metres using air as a diluent. No decompression diving is allowed on this course.
To participate in the TDI Closed Circuit Rebreather Training Course divers must:-

Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Show proof of 20 logged open water dives.
Minimum certification level of Nitrox Diver (Nitrox Diver may be combined with this course) or equivalent from agencies recognised by TDI.

6 hours of academics and 2 hours equipment maintenance workshop.
60 minutes of confined water training to a maximum of 9m.
